10 Struggles of Students on the Quarter System

Most college students will tell you that they often feel as though they don’t have as much time as they’d like to get their work done. Then there are those on the quarter system, where in ten weeks you are expected to take 2 midterms, a final, 5-10 quizzes, complete homework assignments, numerous lab reports or essays and still make it out with your sanity. Here are the top 10 struggles of students on the quarter system:

10. Syllabus “week” really only lasts for about half of the first lecture.

The time spent going over what the course is all about ends up being reduced to about 20 minutes. Anyone on the quarter system can expect to hear something along the lines of “Well let’s jump right in and get started!” from their professors on the first day of class.

9. You still have a full week of class the week before finals.

While many students have the luxury of being able to study for their finals without worrying about missing any class during their “dead week,” those on the quarter system are still expected to make it to every class while still studying for their finals. What’s worse? This is the week that all lab finals take place for some unfortunate souls.
