Freshman year I applied for one of the many jobs at my school. I figured I wouldn’t get it because I was just a freshman and they probably would be looking to hire upperclassman but I applied anyway just for fun. Then I got it.
It was technically a fellowship instead of a work study but a job’s a job and my campus job was pretty great. My job was working on a farm. More specifically, I worked along side several other students to learn hands on, sustainable farming practices. And it was overall an amazing experience.
6. You learn work skills along side learning academic material.
Because this job is based in the university, more than likely it’s going to have some form of academics connected with it. So while you are learning typical working skills (things like time management or people skills) you get the added bonus of learning more academically natured things as well.
5.Your school schedule and your work schedule have the same off days.
If random Wednesday classes get canceled due to the possibility of snow, more than likely you won’t have to go into work either. Meaning you get to spend the day playing in the snow with all your friends instead of working.
