Instagram Posting: The 6 Step Process

We don’t always stop and think what went into an Instagram picture before we double tapped it. For a lot of guys it’s point, shoot, caption, and upload. On the other hand for some girls, it’s quite a lengthy process and can be very stressful. “Do I look pretty?” “Do you think my Ex will like it?” “Is this too much cleavage?” Instead of Instagram being a simple app in which we share our lives through photos, some girls have turned it into a full time job. Here are the steps girls go through when they are about to upload a new photo.

1. The Motivators- This can vary from having a delicious looking meal, to your friends telling you that you look hot, and even to fighting with your boyfriend but you still want him to see how much fun you’re having with your friends. No matter what it is, these are the reasons you get the little thought in the back of your head to upload.

2. The Photo Shoot- Obviously we can’t just take one photo! When it’s time to upload the perfect picture, we need an array of options and poses to get the best shot, that will get the most likes. With an average of 25 photos and 10 different poses, you’re sure to find one everyone can agree on.

3. The Choice- Now that you have a wide selection of pictures. It’s time to slowly go through and carefully critique each photo. You don’t want to pick one too quickly and have your Ex see you with a lazy eye. Every inch of that photo needs to be perfect and after a half hour photo shoot there has to be something there to work with.

4. The Filter- What filter you choose can debatably be the most important choice of the night! Early Bird may make you look washed out but Lo-Fi may be a bit too hipstery. You need a filter that will make that photo pop and make viewers stop scrolling to check it out.

5. The Caption- You need to find something simple. A caption that doesn’t ruin that photo but still perfectly describes your night. Use your hashtags wisely!

6. The Panic- The photo is posted and you start to worry. “Did I use the right filter?” “Do we look like we are trying too hard?” “Why is my like to minute ratio so bad?!” After all this work, you’re now considering just deleting the picture and drinking your failure away.
