Ten Reasons Why We Love Super Bowl Sunday

One of America’s favorite sporting events is finally here. Super Bowl Sunday. While it is the end of America’s favorite professional sports season, it’s the culmination and celebration of another great year. There’s nothing better in sports than the Super Bowl for numerous reasons, but I’ll give you my top ten reasons on why this day separates itself from the vast majority of the 365.

10. Everyone Comes Together To Have a Good Time

It’s game time, which in Super Bowl terms, equates to party time. Even if you’re not a sports fan, the Super Bowl is an incredible reason to hit up your entire list of contacts on your phone to come on over, to eat some great food, and to spend some quality time with your friends.

9. The Food Spread Is Always Top Notch

Super Bowl parties have the greatest snack food. Chips and dips, and when I say chips and dips I mean all the good flavors are there and ready to rumble: guacamole, queso, salsa, ranch, bbq, all the good stuff. In addition, there’s usually wings, tacos, cake, cookies, ice cream, basically the American dream diet right there.

8. This Day Is The Perfect Excuse To Do Nothing

Life’s rough. Studying is rough. The Super Bowl is only rough to those playing in it. To the rest of us, this is a day to kick back and revel in what makes America awesome: Big fireworks, trophies, football (where we barely use our feet), tons of great food, and endless commercials. Sit back and celebrate!

8. Gambling Is Acceptable Today

In most states and social settings, gambling is not usually looked upon as fun and festive. However, today is a gambler’s favorite day of the year. Anyone and everyone has a hot take on which team is going to claim the most coveted prize in North American sports, The Vince Lombardi Super Bowl trophy. There are also many Americans who love to put their money where their mouth is – it’s what we do. Today, that means partaking in a friendly monetary wager on which team is going to come out on top. Not only does the victor win some nice pocket change, the victor also wins bragging rights with their BFF for another 365 until next year’s Big Game. Who doesn’t love money and bragging rights?

6. Today Is The Day of Musical Spectacle

Not only are some of the NFL’s top stars laying it out all out on the line, so are some of music’s most familiar faces. Year after year, the NFL brings in top vocal virtuosos to capture our short-lived attention spans as a break from some fantastic football and hilarious commercials. Each and every year brings a new lyrical adventure. Who can forget Beyonce’s halftime performance in Super Bowl XLVII when she metaphorically and actually gave a lights-out performance in New Orleans, which caused a delay in game action? Or how about Katy Perry’s perfection of dance moves with Left Shark? What a spectacle. This year, it’s Coldplay’s turn to bring the heat. There’s nothing more sensational than seeing master performers at the top of their talents, whether it’s football players or musicians.
