10 Apps That Would Have Our Ancestors Shaking Their Heads (2)

5. Phone Story

Phone Story is a thought provoking game that challenges users to complete 4 mini games, necessary to complete the life cycle of a smart phone. You start off in a mine in Africa, mining supplies for the phone under the threat of gunfire. Next you try to prevent the employees at the phone factories from killing themselves (this actually happens incredibly often at Apple factories oversea.) You then try to manage crazed western consumers and, finally, you sort e-waste in Pakistan. The game is meant to be an educational look at the dark side of the devices we use every day and was banned in 2011. My guess is that the companies hosting the app stores, just weren’t ready for the cold hard truth to be heard.

4. Designated Dialer

Good decisions and a high alcohol blood content are not two things that typically go hand in hand. With this in mind, the makers of Designated Dialer have created a way to filter the numbers you should and should not be calling when you are inebriated. If you attempt to call any of the numbers in your do not call list while the app is on it will instead direct you to a toll free number that will remind you that it is a bad decision.

3. Email ‘n Walk

Have we seriously reached the point in cellular addiction where we cant even stop texting long enough to walk? This app will use your phones camera to assist you in ignoring your friends to text your other friends that aren’t there yet.

2. Shryne

Want an easier way to obsess over your ex? Shryne is here to help! All you have to do is download the app and grant it a bit of access to your personal accounts and it will quickly and creepily build you a shrine to a person in your life. Why? Who knows…

1. Tinder/Grindr/Down/Etc.

Deep down, we all knew this would be number one. We are officially in the age of the hookup app, and I can’t help but think grandma wouldn’t approve. Never has it been easier for two people to meet, get busy, and never speak again…and the world will never be the same.
