You come across all different types of people when you go to college, but one relationship that you didn’t really expect to have such an impact on you is the one and only Starbucks. Even though technically there’s one on every street corner, your bond with Starbucks tends to get stronger over time; you develop a dependency and loyalty that sometimes you question how you got in so deep. Never in a million years did you think BAE would be a cup of coffee, but hey, it did keep you company all those times you pulled an all nighter during midterm season.
Here are 10 reasons why Starbucks became my best friend in college:
10. Rewards: For one who frequently enjoys the wonders of Starbs, being rewarded is a blessing. Becoming a member of Starbucks Rewards gives you access to deals and free drinks! Work your way up to the Gold membership for the best rewards (I have and it’s fantastic for a committed customer). There are only two downsides: some on-campus shops do not participate in Starbs Rewards, and in order to receive rewards you must reload your Starbucks Card. So, while for some this may be deemed inconvenient-when it works for you it is quite fantastic.
9. Mobile: Mobile Starbucks makes every visit easier and convenient. You can do online ordering with participating stores and pay directly from your phone using your Starbucks card. Earn stars with each transaction to build up your rewards. Managing your Starbucks Rewards is that much easier when using the mobile app.
8. Seasonal Items: Starbucks’ seasonal menu is one of the largest (and most delicious!) in existence. We all see the craze for the Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and though Starbucks has a great one- the real winner is their Slated Caramel Mocha. I tell you, this drink has made fall all the better. When the fall semester hits its highest peek of stress, a good ole’ seasonal bit of heaven can cheer you right up.
