10 Things You’ll Regret Not Doing In College

When the word “regret” comes up, people always think about the stuff they did but wish they hadn’t.  But those aren’t the only things you can come to regret as time goes by.  You can also regret the things you never did but wished you had.  These instances can occur in every stage of life, but never are they more prevalent than when you’re in college, surrounded by new experiences and choices of things that you may or may not do.

If you’re still in college, make sure you consider these things.  10 years from now, you may look back and regret not doing them.

10. Asking that guy or girl out.

What have you got to lose?  Nothing, that’s what.  So suck it up and just do it!

9. Taking classes that interest you.

Of course, you have to fulfill the requirements for your degree, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for the classes that are offered at the most convenient time or are held in the building that’s closest to your dorm.  Browse the course catalog and really look at some of the cool courses being offered.  You might find something that really fascinates you, and more often than not, you can find a way to make the credit hours count towards something you need.

8. Keeping in touch with high school friends.

When you’re surrounded by all kinds of new people and your high school friends are 800 miles away, it might seem like it’s not worth the effort to keep in touch.  The truth is, staying connected with old friends across the world has never been easier, thanks to Facebook and email.  You owe it to yourself to exchange messages from time to time, because someday you’ll be very happy that you kept those good old friendships alive.

Putting yourself out there can be a very difficult thing to do, and we’ll talk about it later, but for now you need to know that you’ve got potential new best friends all around you.  All you have to do is open your mouth to say hi.

6. Being single, at least for a while.

Being in love isn’t a bad thing, but at this point in your life, you may want to focus your time and energy on yourself.  That’s not selfish, that’s just part of growing up.  You need to learn who you are and how to live life as you before you bring another person into the mix.
