12 Reasons your Cousins are your Best Friends (2)

6. You can always pick up where you left off.

Whether you guys live in different states or you don’t see each other as often as you would like, meeting up again is like nothing has ever changed.

5. You can’t stay mad at each other.

In some ways, cousins are a lot like siblings, especially when you’re fighting. Times that you swear you’re so pissed that you hate them, usually mellow out in a few hours. After a quick apology, you can always go back to normal. You have to: you have things to tell them.

4. They won’t sugar-coat their advice because they know it’s what you want to hear.

Friends might give you advice just to shut you up, but your cousins won’t. They’ll tell you when you were wrong and should apologize for being an asshole, and they’ll tell you when they get a bad vibe from the date you brought to Thanksgiving dinner. They care about what happens to you, and they know you’d do the same for them.

3. It’s always an open invitation to their house.

You probably know the garage code or where they hide the spare key. Countless times you’ve come home to them laying on your couch with your mom, and vice versa.

2. They’re better than siblings because you don’t have to live with them.

By the time they’re on your nerves, you can leave them at their house and you can go back to yours- a luxury you don’t have with your siblings. You have the same amount of endless love for them without fighting over the shower.

1. You consider them in the plan for your life, because you can’t imagine milestones without them.

When you map out your life, you can’t imagine shaping a life without your cousins in it. You want them to live down the street, be godparents for your future children, and watch them take on their lives alongside yours. You know that they’re the ones that you have faced it all with, and that you would be an entirely different person if it weren’t for their impact in your life.
