I’m from the state that is the most made fun of in all the country. It’s been called the armpit of America, and people laugh that its nickname is the “Garden State.” That’s right, I’m from New Jersey.
When I went out of state for school, I was hit with a slew of untrue stereotypes, from “New Joisey” to asking where my tan was. I was, however, confronted with a few exaggerated stereotypes that happen to be completely fair.
Here’s 14 New Jersey stereotypes that are pretty accurate. Out-of-staters, beware.
14) We drive like maniacs. And we’re damn proud of it.
13) And if you drive slow you will make us mad.
12) Most of us really can’t pump our own gas. And we shouldn’t have to.
11) Or make left turns. Long live the jug handle.
10) And we are obsessed with our beaches. Or “the shore” as some people like to call it.
9) Beach town locals call out of towners Bennys. And they probably hate you.
8) Atlantic City is the go-to for the ultimate 21st birthday.
