15 Principles of Party Etiquette All Students Should Know 3

5. Don’t Overstay Your Welcome

Hey, even the best parties have to end at some point. Don’t be the drunk fool who is complaining about the night “just getting started.” Go home and prepare for your hangover.

4. Don’t Take It Too Seriously

Movies have told us that college parties are raucous, high-energy events. In reality, they’re usually a little more low-key. Don’t run around screaming “PARTY!” every five minutes. Just, you know, chill.

3. Don’t Get Anyone In Trouble

The people hosting a college party are already inviting unwanted attention from the police. They may strive to keep the noise down and the underage drinkers out, but that doesn’t always happen. Don’t make it worse for them by doing drugs, or anything else that could get them in serious trouble.

2. Don’t Stay At The Same Party Forever

Unless you know the people hosting a party, it’s a little strange to show up incredibly early and leave incredibly late, as if you’re a good friend. Spend some time there, have fun, then move on to another activity.

1. Don’t Overdo It

Have your fun, but don’t indulge so much that you end up being a drunken mess, making yourself sick, your friends worried, and everyone else irritated. Parties are not an excuse for you to crank the night up to 11. They’re a way for irresponsible people to learn how to have irresponsible fun.
