5. All psych majors have their own jokes that others wouldn’t understand. – “Why was Oedipus against profanity?” “Because he kissed his mother with that mouth.”
4. “A Beautiful Mind” is the most beautiful movie you’ll see. – When I saw this movie for the first time I almost cried. The movie is based on the life of the mathematician John Nash who was schizophrenic. Nash died earlier this year in a car crash in New Jersey.
3. “5o First Dates” is the second most beautiful movie you’ll see. – This is a very cute and sad romantic movie for any one to see, but it’s great because the leading lady role has short-term memory and forgets Adam Sandler’s character every time she sees him.
2. Your friends give you a look when you say, “You know there was a study…” – I’m always reading articles and finding out new cool psychological things. Whenever I find something cool I store the info in the back of my brain and wait for the perfect conversation with my friends to tell them of my findings, but they don’t appreciate it as much as I do. This is literally the face they make when I say, “I read this article…”
1. You wouldn’t choose any other major. – Being a psychology major means that you are way ahead of the rest of the world. You have studied for years the one thing that you see and interact with everyday, people. You know why people cry, what makes them happy, why they care more about one thing than another, why they act different around peers, and how certain disorders affect the brain.
Here’s to being a proud psychology major!
