15 Types Of Bars Every College Town Has

A bar is a bar and alcohol is alcohol…except when you’re in a busy college town.  Business owners in college towns know that the students have dozens of options when they’re going out for a night on the town, so they have to do everything they can to get paying customers to walk through their door.  Sometimes they do this with dirt cheap drink specials, often accompanied by a special theme or other fun things meant to entice the youngsters.

And that’s exactly why you’ll see so many bars of similar types, no matter what college town you visit.  From Ithaca, New York to Boulder, Colorado, these are the college bars you’ll see as long as you’re anywhere near a university campus.

15. The overly school-themed place.

Hey, if your bar is located close to campus, then you have to show some school spirit.  There is such a thing as too much school spirit, though.  When you can’t look in any direction without seeing your mascot on a banner, sign, or t-srhit, it almost feels like you’re at a pep rally or something.

14. The one that upperclassmen shun.

Upperclassman are simply too cool for this place, although there’s never a reason given as to why.  When they talk about this bar, it’s with embarrassment, like they’re talking about the crazy psycho they dated freshman year.

13. Buffalo Wild Wings.

It’s not the greatest, but you know what to expect when you go to B-dubs.  Decent wings, okay drinks, and plenty of TVs to watch.
