2015 is here and with it will eventually come new one-hit wonders, breakout artists, and dozens of songs that we hate to love. But in order to make room for the new, we need to say goodbye to the old. In there are plenty of songs from the previous year that made their name there and, for the love of everyone’s sanity, need to stay there.
“No Flex Zone” – Rae Sremmund
When parents began making emoji texts of this song, it was all over
“Fancy” – Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX
This song was played at least once every hour this past summer, making it a prime candidate to be denied entry to 2015
“Rude” – Magic!
Such a fun and playful song about love and marriage, but only for the first 300 listens or so
“Timber” – Pitbull ft. Kesha
Sorry Pitbull, but this one gets the giant “nope” stamp, better luck next time
“Anaconda” – Nicki Minaj
“My anaconda don’t–” nope, just stop yourself before you finish that line
“#SELFIE” – The Chainsmokers
This song actually captured a generation’s interests in song. It has to go.
“Summer” – Calvin Harris
At this point, Calvin and whoever it was probably broke up. Plus it pretty pointless.
“All About That Bass” – Meghan Trainor
The big girl anthem that everyone was hoping for, but no one stopped playing
“Wiggle” – Jason Derulo ft. Snoop Dogg
Anyone that says that their favorite song is “Wiggle,” cannot be taken seriously
“Sun Daze” – Florida Georgia Line
The men that were once called the Nickelback of country music are at it once again with a song no one wanted, but everyone heard
“Break Free” – Ariana Grande ft. Zedd
Ariana’s ever-growing fanbase is responsible for this one. Not a bad song per se, but having it played on a frequency on par with “Fancy” doesn’t bode well.
“Bang Bang” – Jessie J, Ariana Grande, & Nicki Minaj
This song’s lyrics feel like someone accidentally hit the caps lock button during the writing stages and forgot to turn it off
“Animals” – Maroon 5
Maroon 5 has turned into the prime example of what radio earworms strive to become, and this exemplifies that
“Turn Down for What” – DJ Snake & Lil Jon
Turn down for never hearing this song again. Ever.
“Happy” – Pharrell Williams
Pharrell has had a big couple of years, so this one can die and he’ll just make one just as big in a few weeks
“Hot N*gga” – Bobby Shmurda
Just a WHOLE lot of nope for this one
If you really feel like you want to bring these songs back from the 2014 grave, you can listen to them all here:
I miss Taylor Swift in this list.
