8. Learn

Many of us want to make something of ourselves. Learning and accomplishing those dreams we have for our future go hand in hand. But, on the journey, don’t forget to study those things that interest you… they don’t have to necessarily be on your exam. Ask questions. Learn facts.

7. Explore

There is so much outside of the screen of our tiny little smart phone going on in the whole wide world. Put your phone down and explore it. Take a hike. Explore that nature trail. Get outside.

6. Practice empathy

Sometimes we feel so burdened by our struggles to the point that we forget other people have struggles, too. Take time to listen to somebody else’s issues and genuinely care about what they are saying. Offer them advice, and put yourself in their shoes.

5. Encourage

Not only encourage other’s to reach their full potentials, but encourage yourself. Are you worried about your exam? You can do this. Are you worried about your track meet? You can do this. Have faith in yourself; you got this!

4. Accept

Same with encouraging others (#5)… Not only accept other people for who they are, but accept yourself. I am sure you like to be yourself, right? So, do others. Accept them as they are.

3. Grow

There is always room for improvement in life. Take 2016 as your opportunity to continue to become a better person.

2. Be more spontaneous

It is so easy to live life routinely: get up, go to school/work, eat, go to bed. Sometimes, you need to get out of that routine and mix it up. Not everything in life has to be done to a tee. Just let the day take you on an adventure that you never expected, and run with it.

1. Handle downfalls with pride

Life is going to be full of them. As I am getting older, I have noticed that the way you handle what life throws at you defines you as a person. It might be difficult, but I am going to choose to handle defeat with poise and power.
