To say that college is the most difficult time of your life might be a stretch — at least to some people. Still, there are plenty of difficult things about it and some aspects of it are harder than other. You’ll be happy to know that there are things you can do to make your college experience a little convenient and a little easier. Try out some of these life hacks, specifically designed for college students.
20. Don’t pay for things, if you can avoid it.
Go home to do laundry, take advantage of free food at parties, and troll the Internet for free resources that will help you more in your classes than any expensive textbook.
19. Master the fine art of schmoozing.
Being nice to people you don’t really care about, pretending to be interested in stuff that’s totally boring, and making friends even when you don’t want to. That’s schmoozing. It’ll help you build a network of acquaintances and contacts which will help immensely when you’re looking for an internship or a job.
18. Go to office hours.
Even if it’s just to drop in and introduce yourself, or ask a quick question that you made up so you’d have an excuse to talk to the professor, do it. This is part of schmoozing, and it’s super helpful to have a professor who’s on you’re side.
17. Get up early, even when you don’t have to.
By keeping a normal waking schedule, you’ll make it so easy on yourself to get up early on weekdays or class days. Even if you don’t need to get up early, do it anyway. It’ll keep you from feeling groggy when you start sleeping in, and you’ll have extra time to do stuff.
16. Review the day’s notes before bed.
Just give the notes you took that day a quick scan before you go to bed. It’ll help cement what you learned and implant the information in your brain for when the test comes.
