20 Things To Come To Terms With By Age 20
You may not feel like an adult, but you're definitely not a kid anymore. Here are 20 things you need to come to terms with by the time you reach age 20.

Twenty is a weird age. You can no longer blame things on your innocence or immaturity because you are officially an adult now if you didn’t view yourself as one before. By age 20, you are no longer a teenager but now in the early stages of becoming a true adult. Twenty is when we have to start growing up; there’s no one who will make excuses for you anymore and you really start to become your own person. Yes, there are still a lot of things to work on and you aren’t really expected to get your life together yet but this is the age when you truly started learning more about yourself. With adulthood comes more responsibility, busier schedules, and most importantly, lessons we wish we came to terms with years ago. Here are a few of those things:

20. You will never have her hair, her smile, or her body, but you’ll always be you and that’s more than enough.

Focus on being the best you that you can be rather than trying to out-do the girl sitting next to you. Life isn’t a competition; just because you don’t have that bleach blonde hair that goes past your waist or a bright white smile that seems to light up the room doesn’t mean you aren’t beautiful.

19. People will put themselves first 95% of the time, and that’s ok.

At the end of the day, the person who should matter most to you, is you. If you’re happy, you’re able to make other people in your life happy as well, so when someone needs to do something for themselves, it is not an act of selfishness. Let them put themselves first and don’t take offense to it. Everyone knows what it’s like to need “me time.”

18. Your mental health comes before school, your job, your friends, and anything else you think you need to tend to.

In high school, and college especially, we are always told “school comes first.” But it doesn’t. Your mental health is the most important thing, and it’s the key to your success. You can always retake that class, but if you’re not mentally healthy, you will never be the best you can be.
