Whether you’re transferring from a community college, state school, or private school every transfer student has to go through a bunch of annoying processes and struggles to get into/adjust to a new school. Applying to grad school and such can be a hassle too, so if you’re looking into transferring here are some struggles to be prepared for.. Or if you’ve already transferred you can definitely relate to these!

22. Getting all your credits to transfer over- Sometimes the credits you want to transfer the most, don’t. And it sucks when you basically took a class for nothing that can’t be transferred when you are transferring. Figuring out which ones can work and which ones don’t is a huge suspense.

21. Making new friends- You’re the new kid! In some schools you’re even equivalent to a freshman, but not always. Trying to fit in and find people you like to hang around can be hard at first.

20. Learning your way around the new school/area the school is in- You have to learn your campus and all the ways around the new city you’re in, because obviously late night Wal-Mart runs are a must!

19. Paying to get your transcripts sent- …. I’m already paying for school, come on!

18. Getting used to saying you go to the school you transferred to- You might accidentally mix up all the colleges you’ve gone too and forget which one you’re in enrolled in now. Sometimes it takes little while to adjust… It’s normal!

17. New food- … Who cares if it sucks, you’ll probably eat it anyway!

16. New team (if you play a sport)- Bonding and clicking with a new team can be hard or easy, just be open to meeting all types of student athletes. They can become some of your closest friends! No matter how long the team has known/played together there is always room for you!

15. Not knowing which teachers are good or bad- At your old school you either had the teacher more than once or were able to hear from friends, now you find yourself looking the teacher up on ratemyprofessor.com

13. Deciding if you actually want to transfer or not- … PROS AND CONS LIST HELP! Weigh out all of your options and go from there.
13

12. Learning where to park for classes and or dorming- Depending on if your campus is big, you’re living off campus, or still getting used to your way around you don’t have enough money to pay for a parking ticket! Make sure you get your parking pass too!

11. Constantly getting ask the question “why did you transfer?”- Self explanatory!

10. Leaving your close friends at your other college- It’s like leaving your best friends from High School all over again, only you won’t see them when you go home for Christmas break. Stay in touch, you’ll regret it if you don’t!

9. Moving away from home/back home- Re-packing everything to move into a dorm or new apartment in the middle of the year, or if you’re moving in the fall semester it’s not so much a struggle for you. If you’re moving back home, hello mom and dad up your butt every second!
