What is all the hype about the Netflix Original Series “Orange Is The New Black? It’s a show about life in a women’s prison. It seems like another overrated, sensationalized “young people” show at a first glance. Just look at the title. Who really says orange (or whatever color) is the new black? Everyone. Everyone with access to a Netflix account says it and here are 5 reasons why:
1. Piper Chapman is every woman.
Piper exemplifies the wide range of traits that every woman expresses at some point. She has been naive, curious, scared, in love, conflicted, hurt, betrayed, vengeful, prideful, content, and optimistic all within just two seasons.
2. Sophia embodies the effort that every woman wishes she had.
It doesn’t matter what time of the day or what area of the jail, Sophia is ALWAYS flawless and put together. Most women give up trying to look good by Wednesday, yet Sophia manages to work it everyday even behind bars! Claps for Sophia. You are a hero!
3. Tasty is the spitting image of your best friend
Whenever Tasty appears on the screen you can’t help but smile, thinking of your best friend and all of the weird things he/she says.
4. Crazy Eyes is also…the spitting image of your best friend
Yep, they always got your back no matter what.
5. The Litchfield prison strangely resembles high school.
From the mean girls to write ups and nasty lunches to crushes, Litchfield kind of reminds us of high school. Every character and every situation somehow resembles a crazy, sad, or funny story from high school that humors us.
