5 Rutgers Players Arrested Because Of Alleged Assault

Five Rutgers players were charged Thursday after an alleged altercation, NJ.com is reporting. The players have all been suspended from the program.

Sophomore defensive back Dre Boggs was also charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and attempted burglary.

Among the players charged is junior defensive back Nadir Barnwell, the player at the center of an ongoing academic tampering investigation into head coach Kyle Flood. Barnwell has started 10 games over the past two seasons at cornerback and is considered one of the most important secondary players on the team.

The other players charged are junior defensive back Ruhann Peele, who played in 13 games with four starts in 2013, junior defensive back Delon Stephenson, who started six games at free safety in 2014, and sophomore fullback Razohnn Gross, who has yet to see game action. Boggs played in 10 games with one start last season at cornerback.

Four of the five players arrested are in the Scarlet Knights’ defensive backfield. A different cornerback was arrested and dismissed back in May.
