6 Useful Life Skills Drinking Games Teach Us

We all love drinking games, but I doubt you even think of the skills they teach us. I mean beyond helping us get drunk and have fun, drinking games can totally relate to real life skills (or at least we can use that to justify playing them more). Below is my ideas on what these drinking games teach us along with links if you want to learn the game and try them out!

1. Beer Pong (or Beirut, whatever you want to call it)

You will lean the basic skills of aiming and tossing a small ball. This may not sound like it will be useful, but developing all those motor skills could help your athleticism in general.

2. Kings

You will learn how to master many verbal activities such a rhyming and asking questions. More importantly however you will become a never have I ever pro (because that’s everyones’ favorite card). You will have a mental list of all the things you can say to get others out. The only consequence is it may cause a lot of reflection on the bad decisions you have made.

3. F**k You

You will learn who to trust in your friend group and who to screw over. It’s perfect for a little lighthearted revenge and a fun way to single out someone and get them hammered, just hope you’re not the one singled out.

4. Up and Down the River

You will become great at number sense and guessing. It is very up to chance, but still you can be pretty sure that when you flip a 3 the next card will be higher. Who needs to study math when you can just play.

5. Thumper

Thumper definitely helps build memory. Having to (drunkenly) remember a bunch of signals keeps your brain working! If you get too good, try adding sounds to the signals; that really will make you think.

6. Flip Cup

Clearly flip cup teaches us some basic physics. You have to get the trajectory of that flip just right to have your cup land and balance. Science teachers everywhere will be proud!
