6 Thoughts College Students Have While Trying to Save Money

Throwing money into the infinite abyss of consumer America can be a load of fun, but every now and then, we all have to put our adult pants on and save money. Much like any other traumatic experience, we may go through a series of emotions when it comes to saving money. Below are the stages I believe to be inherent for most of us when trying to save our hard earned cash.

6.) “This is Going to be a Piece of Cake.”

Dirt Off Your Shoulders

At this point in your savings adventure you are still in theory mode, and things couldn’t be better. Your budget is made and things are looking good. After paying all of your necessary weekly costs you still have enough money left over to have yourself a bit of fun, who knew having money could be so easy! After all, it’s not like you forgot anything, right?

5.) “I Forgot Something!”

Oh Shit

Yep, budgeting for a world as unpredictable as ours is nearly impossible, and sure enough chances are pretty good you have less money to have fun with than you thought. It isn’t the end of the world though, your eyes are on the prize and you aren’t giving up. This is a minor setback at most, and whether you are saving for a car, a concert, or your future; the allure of what you will receive is usually enough to keep us going through this harsh phase.

4.) “Good God, Everything Costs Money!”

Good God!

Who knew that every single thing you like to do costs money? Keeping track of every dollar you use really puts a strain on you actually wanting to use said dollars, and sitting at home nursing a cheap six pack is starting to look pretty good. Don’t let it get you down though, there are some movies you have been needing to catch up on anyway and splurging on a red box rental couldn’t hurt.
