7 Back To School Resolutions To Think About Over Winter Break

It’s always hard to get back into the swing of college after a relaxing break. That stack of several 5-page syllabi in your hand is too much to think about during week one. Tackling the back-to-school shakes is possible, however. Just set some goals. (Or even better, have someone else set goals for you… oh hey, look! We did it for you!)

1. Do your work within two days of the assignment.

When your professor says, “Read chapter six by next week!” That does not mean, “Read chapter six next week!” If you keep up with your assignments right as they’re given to you, you might free up some time to adventure on the weekend. Get into the habit while it’s easy, and stick to it!

2. Go to office hours at least once for each class.

Even if you’re not confused, going to office hours is super rewarding. Stop in at office hours early in the semester with a question, comment, or interesting article that you can share with your professor. They will remember your face and interest when your grade is sitting on the border between A and A-. Plus, you might learn something.

3. Be healthy on a schedule.

Set aside 30 minutes to an hour three days a week for a jog or a visit to the gym. Don’t allow yourself any junk food on those three days. Stick to this, and you’ll feel great and you’ll be able to transition more easily into the no-money-for-snacks part of the semester right before finals.

4. Have new experiences.

Make a bucket list of things you want to do this semester. Here are a few possibilities to get your list started:

Follow these tips for managing your college budget, and save money where you can. Definitely don’t spend hundreds of dollars on textbooks, when Boundless textbooks are way less expensive and just better overall.

6. Get career-ready.

Throughout the semester, work on your LinkedIn profile. Look up future careers and reach out to people who might help you attain them. Add to your resume –even if you don’t have a job.

7. Keep calm and study on.

Don’t get stressed out. You can do this. College is one of the best experiences of your life, and you should always make sure you’re enjoying it. Your happiness level will be directly tied to how you’re doing in class, so keep studying while you balance your hard work out with some fun.
