8 Dreaded Post-Thanksgiving Stressors

Going back to classes is tough, but remember there is only a short period of time before heading back home for Christmas. So pack in the stress now because it’s almost over.

1. Short Tease– Being home for Thanksgiving isn’t like being home for a weekend. Since it’s so much longer, you start to get back into the groove of being home and that makes it so much harder to leave. You also know that Christmas is right around the corner, so Thanksgiving is a reminder of what is so close, yet feels so far.

2. Re-Packing and Traveling– Packing to leave school is easy. You’re all excited to get out of there, so you quickly grab your laundry and electronics and are out the door. Going back though isn’t as easy. You need to find all your stuff that you left around the house and check to make sure none of your siblings have stolen your clothes. You also might be facing a seven hour train ride back before it’s all over.

3. Leaving Your Bed– Everyone knows that nothing is better than your own bed. It’s like your own personal sanctuary. That’s why it is so much harder to leave after a few short nights home and go back to that limp mattress with springs poking your back.

4. Leaving Your Pets– Yes we all love our family and they are great, but sometimes they just ask too many questions about your life, relationships, and school. Pets on the other hand, will just enjoy your company and will probably be the most excited when you walk through the door. You can also trap them in a room with you and forcibly have cuddle time.

5. Finals– You were home and relaxing and your biggest worry was what pie to eat next. Now that this vacation is over, you’re getting dumped back on campus where all your professors will be shoving finals, presentations, and papers down your throat. By the way, they will all probably be due on the same day.

6. Christmas Gifts– Being in college and considered a “grown up” definitely makes gift shopping a little harder. At first you bought gifts with your parents and all you had to do was pick something out for your siblings. Now, you have to scrape together money, that you don’t have, and find the cheapest thing possible.

7. Bad Campus Food– For a week, you got to have home cooked meals. Not everything you ate was cooked out of a freezer bag. Being home just reminded all students what it’s like to eat whatever you’d like and how bad campus food really is.

8. Bad Habits– Going back to school, you’re more likely to stay up way too late, eat way too late, and get up to go to class in the same thing you wore the night before. You get back into the sloppy life at college, you don’t want to do laundry and you definitely don’t clean your dorm room. What makes it harder is, you don’t have anyone there to yell at you to get things in order.
