The library is not the most exciting place on campus but it is one of the busiest. We find ourselves there more often then we would like whether it’s for studying, group projects, last minute essay writing, printing shit before class, or even just grabbing a coffee. Unfortunately annoying people in a quiet library stick out like a sore thumb. Here is a list of just a few types of people you may encounter in the library who you will immediately hate.
1. People asleep
People will literally sleep anywhere in the library. On the overly comfortable chairs (I understand not sleeping here is a struggle), on a table, even sitting in front of a computer. School is exhausting, but the library is not for napping. Your little rest on the keyboard is freaking us all out.
2. Gamers
Like wouldn’t it be just as relevant to do that in your dorm room or something. They take up an entire study room, plug shit into the big TVs, and are just annoying. That is not school work you are not fooling anyone.
3. People printing a million pages
Granted there are more than one printers, but once I have already sent my little two page summary over to the printer I really just want to be able to pay, grab it out, and get to class. I don’t have time for people to be printing out like the entire bible. What are you doing; what on earth class is that for?
4. Groups loudly working on a project
Most libraries have group study rooms; use them! Or work on it out of the library. I do not want to hear you planning who will read off what slide and how much of a dick your professor is.
5. People watching Netflix
This may seem really dumb but I see people doing this ALL THE TIME. Why, just why? We are all addicted to Netflix and there hasn’t been a single time in my life when I’d rather have done homework than watch Netflix. It is just that Netflix is 100% more enjoyable cuddled in bed then it is next to me in the library when I am trying to write an essay. Plus I keep getting distracted by whatever you’re watching.
6. People listening to their headphone loud enough for everyone to hear
Maybe you are deaf, but there is no way you need your music that loud. I can hear it, the kid in the next room over can hear it, hell, everyone in the dinning hall can probably hear it. I like loud music when I study too, but there is limits. Your jams are pissing everyone off.
7. Anyone who makes a lot of noise while they are working
I never realized how many noised people could make with their bodies before spending an hour in a quiet library. Any mouth sucking, pen tapping, tongue clicking, feet shuffling noise is obnoxious. Stop wiggling around and being loud and you will probably get your work done in half the time. I probably will too without all your distracting sounds.
8. People who leave their shit everywhere
It is the campus library not your dorm room. Don’t leave your computer sitting at a desk while you go get lunch with friends. Don’t leave your trash everywhere. It’s a shared space for all students. What if I need that table and all your shit is piled on it? Thats just rude.
