8 Ways to Refocus in Class When You’re Struggling to Stay Awake

Do you ever feel like this guy here?

And then your professor stares at you or wakes you up and you have to respond like this?

And then you do this again 5 minutes later?

Here are some tips to help with that:

8. Drink water!
And not just a little bit. The first thing I do in the morning is drink a nice, tall glass of ice cold water. It’s a good way to wake up and replenish your body with the fluid it lost when you slept (if you slept at all). Not to get all science-y, but it’s also requires a physical motion and it can help you become more alert, especially if it’s cold.

7. Take 10 deep breaths.
Deeper breaths means more oxygen in your body and that can only help, not harm. I don’t want to bore you with the exact science, but it also requires counting and a physical movement to get you back on track (hey, it’s harder than you think!). Count to 5 when you inhale, hold it for 2 seconds, exhale for 5 seconds.
