9 SHOCKING Fraternity Pledge Stories That Will Leave You Speechless

Fraternity life is an exciting part of plenty of college campuses, and for the most part, greek life is good-natured and as wholesome as a group of college students can be.  However, sometimes the fun can end when hazing goes a little too far, as the following horror stories can attest.

A group of Psi Kappa Alpha brothers went to the Hattiesburg Zoo, and dared each other to take a picture with a swan.  While this in itself was not particularly high stakes, things took a turn when pledge Devin Nottis attempted to steal a Chilean Flamingo.  After climbing the ten foot fence, Nottis threw his tshirt over the bird, making his escape with a plan to bring her back to the frat house.  However, she was found on a nearby bike trail, so injured that there was no option but to euthanize the bird.

Nottis was seen on snapchat, bragging about his heist.  He was arrested, and his chapter was suspended.

Hazing turned deadly for Sigma Alpha Epsilon pledge George Desdune.  He was kidnapped by brothers and driven to a house on campus, where he was tied up and quizzed about his fraternity.  For every wrong answer given, he was forced to take a shot.  Desdune was later found at the campus library, unresponsive and with no pulse.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon pledge Tyler Cross died after falling from a fifth story apartment in 2006.  This occurred as a result of being heavily under the influence of alcohol as part of his pledging process to the fraternity.  Further, all the pledges were abused physically, beaten with bamboo stalks, as well as shock by cattle prod, while simultaneously suffering from severe sleep deprivation.  Cross’ parents sued, and received $16.2 million, in the hopes that the case would prevent more hazing related deaths in the future.
