Crash and Burn: Suicide From Multiple Perspectives (2)

When I turned 18, I was accepted to three colleges: University of Michigan, UCLA, and Dartmouth. I spent years learning how to be the best dentist possible. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA as well as honors and a Ph.D. I opened up my own practice, and I rocked the world of dentistry.

I forgot to mention that I met a boy in dental school. His name was Jonny, and not only was Jon handsome, but he was smart, funny, and kind. I was in love with this sweet boy so much. We went on and got married two years after I opened my private practice. We bought a cat and named her Fluffles. We also had a dog and named him Marshmallow. The names were a tad clichéd, but what’s wrong with a little cliché, right?

We spend our honey moon in Haiti making an impact on the world because that is what I wanted to do from the moment I was out of the womb. We spent two weeks cleaning teeth, filling cavities, and creating a world with more smiles. I was so happy. I was so in love.

Shortly after we came back, I figured out I was pregnant. We had a beautiful baby girl named Laney. She was so beautiful and she had curly brown hair just like her momma. She had the bright eyes of her father. I took a couple of months off from the dental practice to get to know this little girl and welcome her to the world with my open arms. Our son Stephen was born a couple years later.

We lived within thirty minutes from both of our Parents who managed to play an enormous part in Laney and Stephen’s lives. They were there for everything from the day that they went to preschool, the day that they lost their first tooth, all the way to Laney’s dance recitals, Stephen’s basketball and football games, and their high school graduations.

Laney went on and married her high school sweetheart and graduated with a bachelors degree in mental health. She wanted to understand the mind better and use her knowledge to help the world, just like her mom and dad. She worked in a school for a while and then got a degree in social work. Her goal was to help children change their negative thoughts into positive ones.  She made all of the children that she worked with her own.
