Daily Dilemmas Understood by Pre-Law Students
If finishing your undergraduate wasn't hard enough, pre-law students also feel the pressure from many other factors. Here are some of their daily struggles.

The second children are old enough to respond, adults will ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most kids will answer stereotypically, “A Firefighter!” “A Superhero!” “A Movie Star!” Some of our answers, however, have somehow evolved from “fairy princess” or “professional skater” to a “Doctor” and for some a “Lawyer.” Why? Who really knows? The opportunity to help people? Aggressive argumentation skills? An interest in the law and a desire to spend years of your young adult life doing other people’s busy work? The money? Regardless of the reasons, there are a plethora of undergraduate students looking to move onto law school, and among those individuals are a few very common dilemmas.

Here are daily struggles that all pre-law students can relate to:

Wondering when you should start studying for the LSAT

So am I somehow supposed to find time to study for the LSAT in between double-majoring and a minor? How are undergraduate students actually expected to juggle exams and papers and projects and find the time to eat, sleep, breathe, and study for the LSAT? Ultimately, we’re all just hoping we aren’t the only one that hasn’t started studying. But the LSAT is a stepping stone to law school so you have to find time.

Having to listen to the input of friends and family

We all have family members who think they know us well enough to decide that we should be an attorney. Don’t get us wrong, Grandma, the support is great. We know you love us, and hey maybe we will be “the bestest lawyer in the world,” but you asking me where I’m applying, what kind of law I’m interested in, and where I want to live after school is really making me want to rip my skin off. As a group, we’re pretty much all just trying to figure out what we should be doing.
