The University of Arizona’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been prohibited from hosting any events involving alcohol until further notice. The frat has allegedly violated their established restrictions on alcohol. Additionally, according to The Daily Wildcat, the frat has been accused of practicing hazing rituals on its members. Neither the Dean of Students at UofA nor any members of SEA have released any statements.
These accusations seems hard to believe seeing we know a bunch of the bros over at SAE at UofA. They are nothing more than chill, awesome, fraternity bros that like to have a good time. I feel like the university is just cracking down on this fraternity chapter because of their apparent past behaviors.
These accusations are just another set in the frat’s long list of violations, which reached 12 since 2006 before this week. The most surprising of these violations has been the supposed drugging of actor Johnny Knoxville from the Jackass television and film series. Last year, the University of Arizona hosted a private screening of Knoxville’s newest movie, Bad Grandpa, and it was here that the alleged incident occurred. Speaking to TMZ, Knoxville claimed someone spiked his beer with ecstasy at the showing, resulting in erratic behavior. Whether he was drugged before or after it was taken, this picture posted on his twitter illustrates the events of that night in 2013.
Because of the frat’s continued use of alcohol at their events, the University of Arizona saw no other alternative punishment than to restrict their event privileges. In our opinion, why not let the students have some fun? It’s the University of Arizona. We should all know by now they are a top party school, so why stick it to one of if not the top fraternity on campus? Just our thoughts…
