Before You Go Home: 5 Red Flags to Look For at Every College Party

When you’re a little tipsy-ok more than just a little- and the lights are low, everyone’s a little more attractive, and a little more charming. While a rando you meet at a college party may seem like a safe option to end the night with, here are some warning signs that say otherwise:

1. He Keeps Giving You Drinks: You pregamed beforehand and you hit the keg when you arrived, yet he keeps bringing you drinks or insisting you go shot for shot. And when you decline, he starts pressuring you to drink more.

2. He Tries to Get You Far Away From Your Friends: There’s safety in numbers, and any guy who’s up to no good knows this. If he keeps trying to move to the opposite corner of the room, or maintain a far distance from the girls you came with, it isn’t a good sign. No guy needs to completely isolate a girl to “talk” to her.

3. He Wants You to Leave Early: The “do you want to get out of here?” line is classic. But it’s a major warning sign if he suggests leaving when you’ve only just started talking, or when he notices how drunk you might be. If his main focus is leaving the party, your main focus should be leaving him.

4. He Follows You: Girls all know this type of guy; he hits on you, you turn him down, yet he seems to be right behind you, or pretty damn close every time you turn around. It’s no mistake. This is the kind of guy who doesn’t take no for an answer, and could be watching you to see when you leave the party, just so he can conveniently leave at the same time.

5. He Gets Grabby: You’ve just learned his name, and suddenly he’s got his hands all over you. Grabbing your arm to lead you somewhere, or just creepily feeling you up. Sure grinding is a fun way to burn off those calories from that Bacardi, but there’s a distinct difference between dancing and touching.
