An Open Letter To The Negative People

To the Negative Nancys and the Danny Downers,

Please stop.

Everyone has bad days and while that’s more than okay, it reaches a point where we are getting tired of the constant sighs and overall aggravation.

It’ll be okay.

Negativity can be addictive but you need to break the habit.  You are in charge of your own reality, your own situation, and how you live.  Please stop putting those responsibilities, your responsibilities, on the people around you.  It is time to grow up and notice that you are completely in charge of your own happiness.  Everyone has their own things going on so it would be great if you could at least try to put a smile on your face and keep moving.  You are so much more than your negativity.  Embrace even the littlest things that make you happy.

Yes, it is so easy to give in to what makes you angry.  You’re frustrated because someone cut you off while you were driving, you have way too much work and not enough time, and someone said something nasty about you.  Okay, so?  Shake it off because none of that really matters if you think about it.  Don’t feed into that pesky negativity with your gossip and unkind words.  Don’t be an enabler.  Don’t make wild assumptions.  You will go through events that might shake up your entire world, that is the time to stand there and yell out in declaration that life has dealt you some crappy cards to play with.  I’m sorry to say this but this declaration is not meant for your everyday woes…

Please just try your absolute hardest to let go of that negative attitude because you’re dragging all of us down with you and fun fact: we don’t want to be there.

The sun is still shining, people are still smiling, you are living on a planet full of dogs…is life really that bad?  The answer is no, not if you don’t want it to be.

Be the person you want to have in your own life.  It’s time to be better.  We can make this change for the better because nobody is “perfect” and everyone could use a little less negativity in their life.

Sincerely,

Someone who thinks you should try to look on the bright side a little bit more
