No Means No: My Rape Story

Sad young woman sitting on the bed

What were you wearing? Are you sure you said no? Did you push him away? Were you drunk? Did you tease him? Are you lying? These are just some of the questions that bombarded me when I was finally able to tell my closest friends what had happened a few days prior. After I told them that a man had held me down and raped me.

My story begins with my friend, let’s call her Vicky, and I driving around looking for something to do. She was on her phone, using Tinder, as always. She found a decent looking country boy and found out he had a friend he was currently with. We decided it would be cool to all hang out together. We met in a Meijer and sat in our cars trying to figure out what we were going to do next. The friend spoke up and said, “I know a good place we can go look at the stars, away from the city lights.” Vicky and I agreed to follow them to their spot.

We pulled behind this barn that was for sale. I lifted the hatchback up on my van so the four of us could sit or lay in it and relax. Before I knew it, Vicky and her date were in the Jeep next to me about to have sex, leaving me alone with his friend.

“Are you single?” I shook my head no. He shrugged his shoulders and kept moving closer to me. He rested his hand on my knee, but I quickly brushed it off and put it back on the carpet of my van. He started to approach my knee again and I grabbed his hand and asked him to please stop. “Only if you go down on me,” he said.next
