An Open Letter To My Grandparents

To My Amazing Grandparents,

I just want to start of by saying thank you for all of the love you have shown me.  Neither of you ever get as much praise as you should; as you deserve.  But I am here to try to make up for that gap a little bit.

Thank you for being the summer save haven.  Thank you for the home cooked meals and the snacks for the airport.  Thank you for the random cards in the mail and the little trinkets you bring home from your travels abroad.  Thank you for teaching me every card game in the book and for telling me stories about my childhood.

Grandma, you have taught me the true meaning of love and sacrifice.  You adore your family more than I think I have ever seen anyone love anything.  You provide the perfect combination of love and structure.  You have followed your passions, maintained a happy home while working, and now go adventures of a lifetime.  You are what I strive for as a woman.

Grandpa, you have taught me the importance of hard work and a sense of humor.  You have shown me that nobody has the power to keep you down as long as you have the drive to make something happen.  Hearing about your childhood and how hard you have worked in order to make a the amazing life you currently have has only driven up my ambition.

You both have shown me that love is truly unconditional, anything can be fixed with an old movie, and that I can never underestimate the power of a home cooked meal.  Your stories are more captivating than any movie or television show.  Your photos are better than anything I could find at a museum.  Both of you have only impacted me positively and I can only hope to be up to par when it is my turn to be you guys.

I know that I will always have you in my life and I am eternally grateful for that.

Much love,

Your grandchild
