An Open Letter to the Roommate Who Didn’t Work Out

To My Ex-Roommate,

I’m sorry. I’m sorry because I really wanted us to work out. I thought we would be best friends, sharing food, sharing clothes, and talking about boys late into the night. I thought we were a perfect match, that you and I were meant to be, and I’m sorry I was wrong.

In my stories of our falling out, you’re the villian. You hated me for no reason, you went crazy, you caused everything to fall apart. But as time passes I realize that may not be entirely true. I know I wasn’t the perfect roommate, I stayed up too late and borrowed things without asking. I invited people over and didn’t ask you if it was ok. I may have even gotten drunk a few times and you had to take care of me. But I hope that you understand that you weren’t perfect either. You treated me differently because of the friends we made, the clubs we joined, or the activities we chose to partake it.
