They say that there is no place like home, and I have never understood this phrase as much as I have since I came to college. Sure, they have minor similarities, but if you look at what life is like at home and compare it to your life on campus then you will notice these drastic differences, too:
Homemade everything. Staple restaurants from your hometown. Could it get any better than that? I don’t think so.
Whatever is cheap, greasy and makes for good leftovers.
Everyone tries to get together and talk about the good old days of high school. But you realize that high school sucks compared to college so you really can’t chat about much for long.
Every night has the opportunity of going to a massive party. Good music, cheap alcohol and great times for all.
You morph into your bed and catch up on all the sleep you didn’t get during the semester.
If you sleep, you will definitely miss out on something. So the quick fix to this, of course, is to never, ever sleep.
You get to use all the dope products that your Mom buys from fancy soap places.
With all the stuff you have going on at school, how could you possibly have time for showering?
Your main stressors are your parents asking what you are going to do with your life and if you are seeing anybody seriously yet.
Your main stressors are found in your syllabus, your backpack and your bank account.
The nice stuff. Dad lets you have a glass of his nice booze while you guys catch up and you decide that all alcohol should taste that way.
Beer that tastes like watered down grass juice and $6.00 handles that taste like nail polish remover are on the menu. Want something different? Too damn bad. While it is nasty, it still gets the job done, so you make it work.
The absolute worst.
The absolute best.
Filled with creepy dudes and people you have babysat for before.
Bars at school are filled with undergrads who all want to have a good time – the communal vibes are so great.
Your parents hand you random $20.00 out of pity and offer to buy you groceries before you go back to school, so you feel like a King.
Your bank statement is in negatives, something you never thought was possible.
