Ten Thoughts of Every Restaurant Worker

These thoughts occur on a daily basis said every restaurant employee ever…

10. Did somebody say corner?

Corner is our special lingo that we use in a restaurant to make sure we don’t have chaos in the kitchen AKA broken dishes, cracked glasses, and dressing all over the place. It works about 50 percent of the time, and I say 50 percent because last time I yelled corner, I spilled a ton of honey mustard all over my boss (sorry!). The simple word “corner” becomes a part of our daily lives and follows us everywhere we go. Needless to say, when you see a person who walks into a corner in pubic and yells CORNER, they are not psycho or crazy — they probably just work at a restaurant.

9. No, I did not seat you there because I hate you.

When the hosts sits you at a sit-down restaurant, we did not take you to the secluded area because we think you look like horrible people who deserves to sit down in silence. At most restaurant’s, you are seated by server rotation. We want to give each server an equal amount of tables. If you do not like your table, please don’t hate on us! Just ask us nicely and we will try our best to accommodate you at another one! We do want you to enjoy your meal and have the best dining experience.

8. You’re welcome.

Our job is to make sure that you enjoy your experience and come back. For that reason, most workers will be really friendly. When we ask how everything is, tell you to have a good day, or smile, please acknowledge it. We are just trying to be helpful. A simple thank you is appreciated.

When we tell a customer to have a good day and they ignore us…

7. Can I be cut?

The struggles. You have so much you can be accomplishing right now: studying, extra work, and partying it up. But…
