Things I Learned From My Dad (2)

“You do not give up on the people you love.” I did not quite make it easy for you to stick by me all those times, but you always did. I knew when things would get bad you were always the one person I could turn to and I could count on you. Whether it was having my heart broken for the first time and I tried hiding the hurt, but you knew me too well. To the time where I came home with the backseat full of vomit from my friend and you woke up at 7 A.M. just so I would not have to clean it all up alone.

The most valuable thing I learned from you is to put yourself third. You never have once done something to benefit yourself. You have truly given up everything for your family. You could easily retire now and live life a little bit less stressed, but instead you are working hard everyday so you can pay for my tuition. After a long week of work you instead of relaxing you drive three hours on a Thursday night to pick me up and take me home. You made me realize the true value of giving to others and how crucially important that is in our world today.

I did not ever expect how hard it would be to say goodbye to you, but it easily was the hardest thing I ever had to do. If anything distance makes the heart grow fonder because for some reason I find your jokes ten times funnier than I ever used to. I could not be happier to be your little girl and I will forever be grateful for you.

Thanks Dad.
