Dear College That Denied Me,

I’m going to walk through the process of discovering you so you can fully understand my investment. I discovered you after a short amount of research on the internet for colleges that best supported my major. I saw you had one of the best programs in the country specified for my major, and quickly fell in love with the campus through my impulsive online campus tour because my curiosity was killing me. After spending weeks on your application, writing my perfectly worded essay and pulling some strings to have as many English teachers proofread and edit my essay, I felt confident that I would have a fair chance of you accepting me. I told my family and close friends I had applied to you, and had high hopes. I saw my peers that I considered on that same academic level apply as well, and we shared the excitement of the nerves leading up to our acceptance/denial letters. Then the day came where my excitement turned into angst. Our soon to be valedictorian had gotten a letter telling her she was wait listed. Being not far from her in class rank, I thought you might think I had different characteristics being that I participated in more unique activities than my other peers, and find those attributes appealing. I convinced my mom to call off of work for a couple of days because I wanted to visit you and see what would be in store for me when I attended what had quickly become the school of my dreams. I found out I was wrong about your conceptions of me when I got my letter informing me I was denied, but to keep your graduate school in mind.up-next-page
