Valentine’s Day For The Long Distance Lovers

Valentine’s Day usually brings out two types of people; the couples who are going to celebrate their love and the grumpy singles who usually curse those couples and mumble how they don’t have time for things like “dates and presents anyways”. Couples in a long distance relationship though usually fall somewhere in the middle of not being single, but also hating every couple around them for being together. Having miles in between you and your beau does not mean you have to totally dread all signs of red hearts and chocolates. Long distance lovers have the opportunity to make the best of a tough situation and get creative this holiday. Instead of stalking Instagram over a bowl of ice cream and looking at what every other couple is doing, try these simple tricks for making your long distance Valentine’s Day special.

5. Mail Gifts Ahead Of Time- Instead of throwing all the traditions out the window, you can still prepare your sentimental gift and ship it out before Valentine’s day. This way you will both have something to open on the special day.

4. Virtually Watch a Movie Together- Agree on a movie, grab your laptops, and enjoy the night together. Even though Skype hasn’t mastered the virtual cuddle, you can still enjoy a movie together. This will remind your man how much he loves your commentary and loud eating.

3. Make a Future Plan- An easy way to ease the pain of missing out now, is looking forward to the future. If you can’t replicate the exact date you were hoping for on Valentine’s Day, book it for the day you will be together and do it then. This way you have something to look forward to when you’re counting down the days.

2. Don’t Sit Home And Watch Romance Movies- So you and your beau had your Valentine’s Date at lunch and he is booked for the night, now what? Do not sit at home alone with a box of chocolates. You had a lunch date with your man, now have a dinner date with your girls. Call some of your grumpy singles up to go out and battle the night together.

1. Schedule a Skype Date- If you don’t know by now that Skype should be your best friend, you’re really missing out. Have both of you prepare your lunch or dinner and have a Skype date. Being able to see each other and still have dinner conversation will make you feel less like you’re missing out. It may also be nice having some privacy over a noisy and crowded restaurant.
