Why Girls Need A Gay Best Friend. #3 Is A Big Reason Why

GBF: (noun) Stands for gay best friend. The thing that every girl needs in her life.

1.  What is better than someone that is a boy that acts like a girl but without all the drama that pertains to your life? NOTHING. GBF’s are hard to come by, that is unless you go to a liberal arts college, but they are a necessity. Even etflix has a movie about 3 girls fighting for a GBF, so you know that it is legit.

2. Gay’s are the best because they are so scandalous and most times when you talk to them you will feel better about your life because they use ALL the hook-up apps (grindr, tinder, jacked, badoo, etc.). This also means they don’t have room to judge you!

3. You can also count on them to always tell the truth about how you look because they know what guys want and aren’t afraid to tell you that you look like white trash or a wannabe Barbie. We salute you for saving our reputations.

4. They also have at least one domestic quality that you can rely on them for; weather that is cleaning, cooking, sewing, hair/makeup, offering advice. Each one has their own specialty.

5. Gay’s are always there when you need them. If you need to pretend you have a boyfriend to fend off the creepy guy at the bar, he is there for you. If you want to have a wine night in your sweats and complain about boys all night he is more than happy. If you need to cuddle and eat food all night that is more than likely his favorite thing to do.

Now go find a GBF because you do not know what you are missing.

To any girl reading this, please do not follow this article’s advice!
The idea of a GBF is fetishizing homosexuality, and completely demeaning by turning a person into a commodity. If you want to support your fellow LGBTQ students become an ally, attend GSA meetings, and use your voice as a heterosexual to speak out against bullying or discrimination around campus. Do not seek out the community looking for a “boy that acts like a girl” as the article says, seek out the community as another hand to help end the injustice.
If you would like, go watch GBF, it is the Netflix movie referenced here. The movie was actually created as a parody on how disgusting this idea of a person as the ‘gotta-have-it’ commodity is, and has the bonus of being hilarious too!
So go forth, be educated, be informed, and most importantly: know that your friends will always be people who will tell you the truth, and you don’t need a gay one to tell you that you look beautiful.
