Why It’s Better To Walk Away Than To Be Walked All Over (2)

Whether it’s a family member who didn’t value you enough, a lover who didn’t appreciate your worth, or a friend who took advantage of you, it all hurts in a similar fashion. The feeling of not being appreciated or cared for as much as you appreciate and care for others is enough to eat away at you and it can consume your thoughts entirely. Sometimes we need to dispose of these toxic relationships because being walked all over isn’t fair to you. We have a hard time understanding and comprehending why a friendship or relationship fails that once used to thrive and how the people who once cared about us more than anything no longer seem to care in the same way as they once did.

If you’re no longer receiving the love and respect you deserve, no matter who the person is, you’re better off discarding them from your life anyways. There are so many people in this world who will show you the same kindness that emit, so what’s the point on wasting your love for people who don’t deserve to have it? Sometimes walking away from the person and situation all together is the only thing that will begin to heal your heart. And the funny thing about walking away is that it’s one of the only things that delivers a change of behavior from the person who doesn’t deserve you; walking away is a metaphorical slap in the face to them, and now is the point where they want you back. We’ve all heard the expression, “We only want what we can’t have.” They swear they’ll try harder, do better. But the fact of the matter is, it’s only a matter of time before they fall back into their same old routine. Take a deep breathe, remember what you deserve, and walk in the opposite direction of anyone who no longer serves you.

The beautiful thing about walking away from someone who walks all over you is that it allows for someone better to walk in who will treat you right.
