Time away from campus, work, and stress can be just what everyone needs at the end of the semester. Sometimes though, you can be gone a little too long and be itching to get back. Once the holidays are over, there is only so much time we want to spend hanging around our hometowns. Here are a few reasons students are excited to get back to school.
1. Break From Parents- We love our parents and seeing them over break is nice, but after a while, they can become overbearing once again. We’ve gotten used to freedom, so being home can get old when there is someone always telling you what to do.
2. Sports/Events- When the semester is over, so is all the fun stuff on campus. You can’t get all your friends together to go to a hockey game when you’re all back at your own homes. An upside to getting back on campus, is being able to go to games, decked out in your school’s colors, and cheer on your fellow classmates.
3. Friends Close By- Everyone makes great friends when they’re away at school, some will be a part of your life forever. When semester break starts, that means separating for up to a month. You can’t walk down the hall late at night to watch movies and snack when you’re both at home and miles away.
4. New Classes/Professors- Last semester could have been rough, especially if you had a bad professor or a bad class that you could just not grasp. Going back to campus can be less stressful knowing that you won’t have to deal with them again and have a fresh start.
5. In Walking Distance- Being back on campus means being close to everything again. You can walk to the gym, library, and somewhere to eat. When we are on break, it’s not as easy. If you don’t have a car, it’s especially hard to go places.
6. Activities Available- College kids often complain of being bored when they are back at home. This is because they are so used to a lot of things happening on campus. No matter what day of the week it is, there is always something going on and that’s something college kids look forward to.
7. Parties- This is self-explanatory. The best parties happen while at school and we all love it.
8. Motivation- It’s easy to become an extreme couch potato at home when you have nothing you have to do. One day can roll into another when binge watching Netflix. When we are at school though, we have schedules and due dates and this usually gives us more motivation to get things done.
9. Campus Job- Being broke isn’t fun. Especially when your only source of income is a campus job. When you go home, you don’t have a paycheck coming in for that period of time. Companies don’t want to hire and train someone here for a few weeks.
10. Gym Access- A new year is here! Many students will have the resolution to get in shape and start going to the gym. No one wants to pay for a gym membership at home when they will be gone in a few weeks. Going back to school gives you access to the gym again.
