15 Signs You Are An Only Child

“You are an only child? That explains so much!” Um, like what? The stereotypes only children have are never flattering. To this day, I still try to figure out what people mean when they say it ‘explains so much’ that I am an only child. I think only children have a vibe about them that just screams spoiled. But, we are just like everyone else, except cooler! If you are an only child, these twenty reasons definitely relate to your life, I can promise you.

15.) Sharing tends to be something you lack. It’s not like you are a greedy person. You are just used to what is yours is only yours. No big deal.

14.) You’ve had imaginary friends. And sometimes, more than one. What? You need someone to talk to when you’re alone.

13.) People automatically assume you are a spoiled brat.

12.) You‘re used to the remarks: “oh, you’re an only child? I know what that means..” Well, tell me then, because I sure as hell don’t know!

11.) High school sleepovers were always held at your house. You had no younger siblings to disturb the party, duh!

10.) Your parents are the definition of overprotected. You are their only kid, they have to make sure you’re alive every single second of the day.

9.) You never got away with anything growing up. Your parents always knew what you were up to, they had no one else to watch.

8.) Your family are your best friends. Don’t be ashamed of it.

7.) Sometimes you never knew if people were your true friends or just using you. Middle school and high school friends can be rude. Make sure they like you for you, not just your stuff.

6.) Rules always seemed to be more strict when growing up. I was not allowed to cross the street by myself until I was ten!

5.) You always wanted a sibling. Even though your friends said how lucky you were, you can’t help but imagine life with a brother or sister.

4.) You love your pet more than humans. They are there when no one else is.

3.) You have a nice bedroom. I never appreciated my room, but it is my favorite place now and has great childhood memories.

2.) Your parents love to make you happy. You’re their pride and joy, they always enjoy to see you smile.

1.) You wouldn’t trade it for the world. Sure, you get lonely sometimes, but being an only child rocks.. There is only one of you, and that makes you awesome!
