Having a friend in a relationship when you’re single can be hard, but when your whole friend group has someone in their life, you are really suffering. These are some of the woes of being the single friend.
1. Forever being the third wheel or fifth wheel
No matter how close you all are, the third wheel life is always awkward. The only thing worse is if there is like two or three couples and you’re just there, single af. Mine as well have just gone out alone.
2. Having to pretend the PDA isn’t happening
You’re all just hanging out watching a movie and you look over and they are all making out and cuddling. Awesome. Not only do you not have someone to do the same with. Now you have to pretend like you did just see them having sex with clothes on.
3. Not having any interesting stories
You’re friends are always giving each other the play-by-play on their relationships and all the things that are happening with their other half. Then when they ask you about your day you’re just like “the weather was nice”.
4. Being the go to person for advice
Everyone is always looking to you for advice and ideas for presents and help with everything in their relationship. Of course a good friend always tries to give good advice, but in your head you are wondering why they would ask you, “I’m STILL single so…”.
5. Having to be your own wingman
If your friends in relationships still want to go out and party with you than that’s great. But they end up going off with their guy/girl and you are left just trying to find someone to take home all alone.
6. Always having to prepare for your friends significant other to tag along
It’s never just you and them grabbing lunch or going out, their significant other ALWAYS tags along even though you don’t remember extending an invitation to them.
7. Feeling like you will never find love like that
Hanging out with people in relationships a lot can be kind of depressing. Where is the love in your life? Don’t worry though you can’t be the single friend forever… well hopefully.
