Today the internet is breaking from news about a gay basketball player being removed from his team yearbook. This news is absolutely sickening and disgusting. Everyone has rights to be whatever they want to be. Gay or straight, that has nothing to do with how amazing of a person Dalton Maldonado is. Athletes all over the world who have come out for being gay over the last year have been respected for coming out. However in this situation, Dalton is being completely disrespected in a despicable way.
Betsy Layne High School in rural Kentucky this year had a two-page yearbook spread that featured all of the seniors on the boys basketball team. Except, one senior was left out of the tribute: Dalton Maldonado, the team’s starting point guard who came out publicly as gay a couple months ago.
