All my life I’ve wanted everything to go just perfectly. If something didn’t work out as planned, which it often did not, I felt very anxious. Being a so-called perfectionist in college is definitely the ultimate struggle because most aspects about college will never be perfect. A lot of times we try to micro-manage ourselves, trying to squeeze ourselves into boxes of “what we should be” rather than what we realistically can be. At the end of the day, instead of focusing on what we cannot change, we must focus on what we can change and allow ourselves to move forward.

Here are some things that don’t come so easy to a perfectionist in college:

Not getting that desperately wanted 4.0

A 3.8 or 3.9 is good, but a 4.0 just tastes so much better. Most people would be so happy with 3.8s and 3.9s, but perfectionists need exactly that: perfection. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. 

Studying for endless amounts of hours and only getting an A-

Sitting in the library for 6 hours straight studying for a test then only achieving mediocre is probably one of the most obnoxious things about college. Can’t the time spent preparing count as like, extra credit?
