If you’re a University of Rhode Island student and active on social media, than you’ve probably seen, or at least heard of the Instagram account “URI Fuck Boys”. The official Instagram handle is @urifuckboys3.0 and was created by the current account holder after the first two attempts at creating a “URI fuckboys” account were reported, and subsequently, deleted.
The @urifuckboys3.0 account just started a couple months ago and already has nearly 3,000 followers, and many of their more popular posts have hundreds of likes and comments.
The account basically serves as a place where girls can submit the funniest messages they’ve received by a “fuckboy” – pretty much the type of guy that serves to piss off women. The profile photo for the account is a picture of Donald Trump, who some might say is the ultimate “fuckboy”.
According to the account holder the page has had mainly positive responses overall, “the responses have been really funny. You have some that are like ‘oh my god did this really happen!!??’ and some really positive feedback saying that this page is golden and how I am doing a great job.”
There has been some negative feedback, however, “some [people] are like this isn’t fuckboy material, this is actually really sweet, or that the girl is the one being the fuckboy. I have [also] gotten some negative feedback because I wasn’t careful enough and a name was posted. But we work with the people who were affected and apologize profusely.”
The current account holder chose to re-create the account after it was deleted because they thought it was hilarious and saw how sad many of their classmates at URI seemed to see the page go.
Well it seems for now at least the page is here to stay.
