10 Signs You Went To North Carolina State University (2)

7. You’ve experienced the single greatest psycho-social experiment ever erected on a college campus, Harrelson Hall:

This monument of 50/60s design and psycho-social experimentation is a staple on the N.C State campus. This round monster-piece comes complete with a spiral ramp throughout, pie-shaped bathrooms, backwards climate control systems, windowless classrooms, and even our school’s bookstore (for a short period). Anyone who experienced having a class in this building was surely in for a treat…from hell. Regardless of your status as a freshman or even a senior, you knew the stomach wrenching feeling of watching the clock tick as you searched from your classroom.
*Side-Note: N.C State is finally acknowledging the madness that is Harrelson. The building is set to be demolished in the near future.

6. You’re a fan of N.C State Athletics- No Words, Lots of Emotions

A common phrase (even tagged within groups and social circles related to N.C State) is “typical N.C State shit”. This phrase is commonly associated with our athletic programs- specifically in regards to basketball and football. If you consider yourself a true sports fan of N.C State, you will know to “hope for the best and expect the worst”. Don’t get me wrong, we have had fantastic runs (few and far between) and even a few championships! Many of our athletic teams (though unappreciated by the student body) are actually nationally ranked and consistently yield winning results. N.C State is the champion of mediocracy. One week we’ll beat the “unbeatable” ranked team and the next week we lose to the Division III school from Nowheresville, USA. Jimmy V’s championship team was nicknamed the Cardiac pack due to their ability to come back and win, even as the notable underdogs. However; talk to the N.C State fans and Cardia Pack denotes the feeling of heart attacks and cardiac arrest that you feel while in attendance or watching games.
