4 Things Socially Awkward People Fear

Most people think you’re rude and unapproachable, but little do they know you’re simply a socially awkward person trying to survive in this awkward world.

1. Hugging– You spend way too much time analyzing that handshake-hug moment. “Do I go in for the hug or do I just wave? Both arms or one??? Do I side hug them? …Someone help me!!!”

2. Meeting your friends-friends– You stand there thinking, “Ok I got this I’ll just say hi and make conversation… Wait (insert friend’s name here) where are you going?? You’re going to leave me alone with a stranger. What am I going to talk about??” Cue the awkwardness.

3. Small talk– The socially awkward love hate small talk. “Ugh great he’s going to ask what I did this weekend.”

My response- “Well I did so much I just can’t remember it all, but it was amazing!”

Reality- I watched Netflix all weekend and ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner in bed… but he doesn’t have to know that.

4. Family Reunions– These are the worst. They’re a lethal combination of small talk and awkward hugs which is your version of hell. Before attending a family reunion you have contemplated making a shirt that says,

“I’m (Insert parents names here) daughter”

“No my older sister is over there, I’m the middle child”

“I’m a (insert here) major”

“I don’t know what I’m going to do with it yet”

“No, I’m not in a relationship”

“Yes, I like college.”
