8 Fall DIYs to Bring out Your Basic

Fall is my favorite season. Leaves crunching on the ground, autumn scents filling the stores, perfect sweater weather where its not too hot or too cold, and of course, Halloween. It is also the favorite season of all the basic girls out there. No shame! The basic love for this season is what makes it so great! These 8 DIY’s are perfect to unleash your inner basic self.

8. Maple Leaf Mason Jars

For this super cute decoration you need a mason jar, mod podge, and fake leaves. All you have to do is spread the mod podge on the outside of the jar and stick the leaves to it. These look really nice if you put a tea light candle on the inside.

7. Corn Filled Candle

This one is super easy to make! All you need is a bag of unpopped popcorn, a glass candle jar, a candle, and some raffia straw. Simply put the candle in the jar, pour the popcorn around the candle, and tie the straw around the jar in a bow. Make sure to place it low enough so that the heat from the candle won’t affect it.

6. Carve pumpkins using a drill

I love the designs you can make with this method! They look super sweet and dainty and perfect for Instagram pics!

5. Oreo Acorn Balls

These are a super cute and yummy treat that you can bring to any Halloween or fall themed parties you go to this season! Get the recipe here http://thefirstyearblog.com/oreo-acorn-balls/

4. Flannel Coasters

This is a great way to up cycle an old flannel that doesn’t fit right anymore. You can find the full instructions here http://jugglingactmama.com/2015/09/diy-flannel-coasters.html

3. Fall Mason Jars

For this cute fall sign, get four mason jars and paint them fall shades with acrylic paint. Then paint the letters F, A, L, and L on strips of burlap and use mod podge to secure them around the jars. You can stick autumn leaves or flowers into the jars to make them extra festive.

2. Twig Candle

This is probably the cheapest and easiest DIY from this list! All you need to do is collect some twigs from outside and glue them onto a glass cup. Put a tea light candle inside for a beautiful fall ambiance.

1. Sweater Pillow

This is a super cozy way to recycle old sweaters. All you need to do is cut the sleeves and neck off of the sweater, slide it over the pillow, and sew the edges shut.

It’s the holidays which inevitably means that there will be baking in the next few weeks. While some people can go onto Pinterest and find the cutest ideas to copy flawlessly, others aren’t quite Martha Stewart. Here are some photos to make you feel better if you’re getting frustrated with your holiday baking. Or just to let you know you’re not alone.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life transported many viewers back to the small Connecticut town of Stars Hollow with its four 90-minute episodes recently released on Netflix. Although, many of us had been visiting frequently throughout the past few months in preparation, binge watching our favorite episodes from the original series. There was always something unusual about this show. It had a sweetness and pace that seemed unmatched by any other, and while the characters were often lovable and quick-witted, they were also flawed, often caffeinated, and sometimes selfish. As beloved as these characters were, we didn’t always agree with their choices—let’s just pretend that Dean never went to the Gilmore house at the end of season four.

So, while I was a little surprised to see where the characters were in the revival, I was also pleased that they still didn’t have everything together, far from it actually. I grew up watching this show, relating to situations that Rory and Lorelai found themselves in and learning many life lessons through the show’s quick and pop-culture riddled dialogue.

25. Always show appreciation for the people who inspired you and helped you to become the person you are today

24. Have high standards whether you’re shooting for an ivy league school or deciding if a guy is worth a second date. Also, dessert is always a good idea.

23. It’s okay to be selfish sometimes. During airplane safety demonstrations, they always tell you that if the oxygen masks drop you should secure your own mask before helping anyone else with theirs. Sometimes in order to help others, you need to help yourself first.

21. Don’t place your self-worth or happiness on the approval of others. There will always be someone who disapproves of your choices and that’s okay. Their opinions really don’t matter.giphy

20. Find happiness outside of relationships. Miss Patty may have been married multiple times, but we never actually saw her married on the show. We did, however, see her fulfilled with her dance studio and around fresh produce a few times.

19. Finding the right person isn’t easy, and if Lorelai is any indication, sometimes the right person is standing right in front of you and you’re just too distracted to notice.
